The Gods Have Fallen
Resimbul is a nation steeped in war. After the cataclysmic events of the Chaos Wars, many in the land believed the Gods did not favor them or at worst did not even exist. With Wami trapped forever in the Volus temple, the nation began to rebuild. But old views were tested and a new power rose from within. Enter Queen Isabella, The God Queen, The Holy Matriarch. Queen Isabella, The Lioness of the East, once a lowly woman of the night, preached a new religion. Christianity. Her and her followers grew in numbers until entire cities were under their sway. Soon almost the entire Eastern half of the nation was under the rule of Queen Isabella and her devote followers. As with all things, people rebelled. Those who did not follow this way of thinking were “persuaded”. King Hallendale of the Western kingdoms sensed the shift in power and began uniting his surrounding kingdoms in a show of force. They did not need or want this new religion. They were a collection of free men and women who wished to worship as they saw fit. Within a decade, war had broken out. With the nation fractured, the long mistreated elves of the south seized this chance, they brutally retook their once forest homes to the south of the kingdom. They butchered every non-elf without mercy, painting their forests red with the blood of humans, dwarves, and half-elves. Believing themselves safe within their mountain strongholds, the Dwarven Clans watched as these races fought and killed for their petty reasons. Sadly, they were not safe. While the humans and elves fought, the Orcs, now united under a mysterious chieftain, had gone unchecked. In a single united siege they forced the Dwarves from their cities, killing them by the thousands. Now, what Clans are left live as refugees among the races they had mocked from their iron thrones. With all the war and desolation, Adventurers now find themselves at an impasse. Most guilds have since disbanded, joining one side or the other. Only a handful of stalwart adventurers continue their important task of taking the odd jobs that the militaries will not handle.
